A brochure issued by the Hochtaunus District advertising winter sports in the Taunus used to be titled "Mir hawwe zwaa Meter Schnee... breit" (Hessian dialect for "There are two metres of snow - spread out horizontally.").

This slogan has been replaced by a more appropriate "Auf in den Taunus", which translates to "Let's go to the Taunus":
There are more than 100 km of cross-country ski trails, a circular ski trail through the Taunus, several downhill runs (with or without lifts), a shuttle bus service, natural ice skating rinks ... and there is a snow hotline with recorded messages updated every day.
